Hi, I'm Shaye. I founded Cactus Counseling because I know how hard it can be to face your past trauma and feel at odds with your own body. My heart's work is in helping cycle breakers—people like you who are ready to break free from generational patterns and past pain.
I became a therapist because I’ve been where you are, and I get it. I approach this work with authenticity and compassion, fusing evidence-based care with holistic practices because I believe in healing the whole person, not just the symptoms.
My goal is to see you for who you are—not just the challenges you face—and to provide a safe, grounded space where you can finally release what's been holding you back.

We go beyond just talking. While traditional talk therapy focuses on your thoughts, we use holistic methods like Somatic Experiencing and Art Therapy to help you process trauma on a deeper, body-level. If you feel stuck talking in circles, we help you release the tension, stress, and trauma that gets "stuck" in your nervous system, helping you feel at home in your body again.
A cycle breaker is someone ready to end the pattern of generational trauma in their family. It’s the powerful decision to say, "the pain stops with me." We specialize in helping you understand these patterns, process the inherited pain, and build new, healthy ways of being so you can thrive and leave a different legacy.
Trauma and chronic anxiety can leave your nervous system stuck in "survival mode." Somatic Experiencing helps you gently listen to your body's sensations (like tension, a racing heart, or shutdown) and safely release that pent-up energy. It teaches your body that the threat has passed, helping you feel calmer, more grounded, and in control of your reactions.
We are in-network with Aetna, United Healthcare, Optum, and Oxford. We also accept private pay, with individual sessions at $150. We provide Superbills for out-of-network reimbursement and offer a sliding scale to make therapy accessible. We'll help you navigate the financial side so you can focus on healing.
Not at all! You don't need any experience or skill. Art therapy is about the process of expression, not creating a masterpiece. It’s for everyone—creatives and non-creatives alike—who want to explore their feelings in a new, powerful way. And it's always an option, never a requirement to work with us.
Yes, what you're feeling is absolutely "enough." The transition to motherhood is one of life's biggest changes. You don't have to be in crisis to deserve support. We help with the overwhelm, anxiety, and identity shifts so many moms experience. This is a space where you don't have to be the "strong one"—we're here to be part of your village.
The first session is about us getting to know what makes you, you. We'll review paperwork, discuss your goals, and begin to understand your history and experiences. Your only job is to show up. We're trained to guide the conversation gently, and you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. It's a collaborative start to your healing journey.
We may be a great fit if you're ready to dive deeper, are curious about a mind-body approach, and have felt stuck with just talking. The best way to know is to connect. We offer a free 15-minute consultation to answer your questions, hear what you're going through, and see if it feels right. You've already found the courage to look for help—let's see if we can take the next step together.
You don't have to walk this path alone. Taking the first step is hard, and we're here to help. We invite you to reach out for a free 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit and answer any questions you have. Let's work together to help you cope with life's curveballs and break those generational cycles.
